“Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.”
– 1 Peter 4:19
This is a truth to live, to live out as undergirding our lives as Christians
“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Cor 1:9). “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” (1 Thess 5:24)
Psalm 119:89-90 tells us it is everlasting:
“Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.”
Psalm 89 is in many ways an exposition of the faithfulness of God. Here we read
– It is established: “For I have said, ‘Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.’” (v.2)
– It is Incomparable: “O Lord God of hosts, who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.” (v.8)
– It is also unfailing: “Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.” (v.33)
It is no surprise then that this Psalm declares from v.1 that this is a truth to be proclaimed:
“I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.”
