But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name’ (John 1 :12)
‘Behold what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall he like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:1- 2)
‘Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God: and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth into a holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.’ (Ephesians 2:19-22)
Last year during the study of 1-3 John, I really came to understand the joy of being part of God’s family. How amazing that our Lord should send his Son to live on earth, then die on a cross so my sins can be forgiven.
I consider myself very blessed to have a wonderful extended family. I used to think I had everything I needed until the Lord lead me to South Yarra Presbyterian Church.
I thank God regularly for the joy and blessings this has brought into my life, being part of a group of believers who will willingly share their love of Christ and continue to challenge my understanding of his word.
